Russia’s NPCS discusses Mir card payments in Turkey

MOSCOW, Jun 19 (PRIME) -- Russia’s National Payment Card System (NPCS) is discussing acceptance of pay cards under the Mir brand with Turkish banks, CEO Vladimir Komlev told PRIME on Monday.

“A wide range of Turkish banks are interested in this. Our delegation has just returned from a working meeting with national banks in Izmir. We hope that this will not be a too complicated project. All technologies made by NPCS are aimed from the very beginning at being as compatible with the existing worldwide infrastructure as possible,” Komlev said.

He also said he hopes that co-badged Mir – Union Pay and Mir – American Express cards will appear soon. Mir – MasterCard co-badging is also being discussed but the negotiations are at an earlier stage.

Thai banks can acquire a stake in NPCS, judging from the results of a meeting with the banks earlier in 2017, Komlev said.
